Marsh Views
Salt marsh habitats rival the rainforests of the Amazon for their importance to the ecology of the earth. They are nurseries to popular fish and shellfish species, provide habitat for countless native and migratory bird species and help protect shorelines against the extreme weather and tidal events becoming more ubiquitous with global climate change.
Locally, the area known as The Great Marsh – a 25,000-acre area of salt marsh, beach and tidal estuaries ranging from the border of coastal New Hampshire to Gloucester, Massachusetts – is also an inspiration to artists of all media and methods.
The seven images presented in my portfolio “Marsh Views” only scratches the surface of the incredible beauty found in this region and were taken on a foggy December day in 2023, at the Parker River National Wildlife Refuge and surrounds.
